Brainstorming a sustainable, just and fulfilling Murray Creek Community
Background
Ann and Bob's long standing vision is for Murray Creek to continue on, not only as a gathering and retreat space for family and friends, but also as a safety net in these increasingly turbulent economic times.
Joseph and Ann recently attended an "Awakening the Dreamer" symposium which advocates that "bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on this planet" needs to be the guiding principle of our times. The symposium presented a very compelling explanation of 'where we are' and 'how we got here' as well as a very encouraging exploration of 'what's possible for the future' and demonstration of how much progress there already is around the globe with projects of sustainability.
This all also ties is tightly with the writings of Daniel Quinn. Quinn presents a striking examination of our current culture's suicidal trajectory, as well as the insight that humans lived sustainably on this planet for millions of years before our current culture emerged about ten thousand years ago. (Quinn's book Beyond Civilization is a quick read and has been given by Ann to all of her children and grandchildren)
